Check Your Filter
When performing any home troubleshooting or maintenance on your HVAC system, the first thing you should look at is the filter. Depending on your system, you may have a permanent or disposable filter. Depending on which one your system uses, clean it or replace once a month.
Having a new or cleaned air filter ensures that no dirt or dust is blocking the cool air from circulating through your home, and will help prevent many potential problems that can result from the extra workload your unit will be taking on for the summer.
Clear the Area Around Your Outdoor Unit
Go outside and look at your HVAC unit. Make sure that the area is clear of anything that could obstruct your system, such as leaves, branches, and bushes. Anything near your unit could potentially fall into it and prevent it from operating smoothly.
Check Your Thermostat
