3 Ways to Transform Your Garden From Ordinary to Oasis

While most homeowners spend a lot of time and energy getting the inside of their abodes to look just the way they want them to, too many neglect the outdoor areas.

But, it doesn’t have to be that way. In fact, there are a few simple ways you can add your own dose of color and personality to your garden.

Here are three ways to transform your garden from ordinary to an oasis.

  1. Consider building a pool. (Or, at least a water feature.)

There is nothing more zen than having your own family swimming pool in the garden. During the hottest months of the year, you can simply walk out into your backyard and jump into the refreshing water. No matter how hot and humid, your pool can be a source of comfort for you and your family or housemates.

If you don’t have the space out back or the budget to add a pool, then the next best thing is a water feature.

You know how it feels when you walk into a restaurant or a botanical garden and you are greeted with a water feature? It feels peaceful and soothing, as though you have no choice but to relax. By introducing a water feature to your garden, you are adding serenity to the space.

And, importantly, it doesn’t have to be a gigantic palace-worthy thing that costs more than your mortgage. In fact, you can quickly transform a decorative pot into a fountain or add a simple bird bath.

Additionally, having a water feature is a surefire way to attract wildlife, another necessity for an oasis-like garden. On that note, if you want to entice butterflies, make sure to plant wildflowers!

  1. Don’t forget the comfortable luxuries (like a seating area).

No matter what you choose to do with your garden, you are going to want to have a space where you can sit and enjoy the fruits of your labor. For this reason, comfortable lounging or seating areas are essential in order to have an oasis garden.

During the summer months, you and your guests (because everyone is going to want to spend time in your oasis!) are going to want to have places to hang out that are also shady.

There are many ways you can do this. Perhaps you have a large table with several seats that are located underneath a large outdoor umbrella. If your backyard is covered by trees, add your table and chairs underneath them.

However you choose to style it, and it will be based on the layout of your garden, make sure that the seating area is a welcoming and relaxed environment to spend time in.

  1. Fit a privacy fence.

For you to truly feel as though you are basking in an oasis, you need to believe that you are in on your own little secret. This means privacy. By adding some intimacy to your outdoor space, you will not only make it look incredible, but you will also have your own oasis.

There are several ways that you can add decoration to an everyday fence, and the method you choose will depend on the vibe and layout of your back garden. Consider adding mirror shards to the fence to form a shimmering mosaic, or construct an intricate frame in front of it and allow a vine to blossom. You could upcycle a window into your fence or add a few vintage details for a quirky look.

Accessorizing your fence in a personalized way will make the oasis genuinely feel truly yours.

So there you have it! A few tips and tricks for turning your backyard into an area that most people only have the chance to experience in their dreams.
